Hey Everyone!!!! I’m so thrilled to announce it’s release day for Spiked Lemonade.
After writing TAG a few years ago, I knew one of my side characters, Sasha, needed her own story, so I peppered her into TAG‘s novella, You’re It. That’s when I added in Jags too, who I fell in love with :). Then I realized, Jags and Sasha needed a beginning, middle, and end. And Spiked Lemonade was born—a standalone romantic comedy.
As some of you already know, I like to write from what I know or have experienced, even if it’s only mildly woven into my stories. While Sasha isn’t a dominant, kick-ass woman, she was created to mimic a woman who blushes around dirty words and may not fit in with a crowd of alpha friends (I WAS HER AT ONE POINT! Now…I’m writing dirty words 😉 ). I think at some point in our lives, we all feel like we don’t fit in. For me, I was Sasha many times throughout my life. Specifically, when I went off to college. I grew up in a little bubble in the safety of my rural town, but entering a college in the middle of a city was a shock to my poor little bubble. I faced unfamiliar territories and looked the part of a deer in headlights for quite a while. I was forced to face fears, try new things, and most importantly…live a little. I know what it feels like to be out of my comfort zone and pushed to accept things that seemed a little more wild and crazy than what I was used to. We all need a little push sometimes, and when I made my bubble a little smaller, I came to find out that I could be having a lot more fun. I’m comfortable in my own skin now, and the things that come out of my mouth these days would surprise the hell out of my childhood friends :).
I love the people in my life who have pulled me from my comforts and taught me to live. Because now I’m okay with writing books that have scenes that would have made me turn red years ago. I grew out of my Sasha!
With that said, the moral of this story is… We all start off timid in life situations at some point, and it’s just a matter of finding that person or people who bring the best out in you and help you realize it’s okay to just say what you’re thinking, and more importantly…never care what anyone thinks of you.
In Spiked Lemonade, Jags went all in to show Sasha the light to a more fun life, and while doing so, he is kind of like a bull in a China shop, I think the journey of him getting his point across to Sasha was the most enjoyable part of the story to write :).
I hope you all enjoy reading Jags and Sasha’s story in Spiked Lemonade. The story was written with lots of love, comedy, cussing, and scenes that might make you blush.
Spiked Lemonade is currently FREE on Kindle Unlimited or 99 Cents if you’re not in Kindle Unlimited.
